The car in question is based on a 1977 Lancia Scorpion, which the owner acquired back in 2017. The car has been totally reworked in an attempt to make it look identical to a 037. The car features a new body that has been sourced from Carteroni and is mounted on a custom-built Chromoly tube frame. As of the time of this writing, it’s still without paint.
Visually, the car looks like a faithful representation of the real deal. It even has front hood vents and a big integrated rear spoiler. It also has a tilt front and rear body, as well as the obligatory front-mounted rally headlights. The three-piece Braid wheels are wrapped in Pirelli Corsa tires.
Vented rotors with four-piston calipers, Wilwood master cylinder, Eibach springs, and many other high-grade parts have been installed on this 037 Tribute car.
You want to know about the engine, so here goes.
The original Lancia 037 Stradale was powered by a 2.1-liter supercharged inline-four sourced from Abarth, which put out 205 horsepower and 170 pound-feet (230 Nm).
This recreation of the Group B icon, however, has a Honda K24 engine, fitted with a Borg Warner turbocharger and a Mishimoto intercooler.

Those who are more knowledgeable about Honda engines would know that the K24 is capable of some serious power, even on a stock bottom end. The engine was built by “4 Piston Racing”, in Danville and the list of modifications is extensive. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Fortin Racing five-speed sequential manual gearbox.
The interior looks almost finished, with two OEM THE-R racing seats, an Alcantara steering wheel, a Terratrip rally computer, a Wilwood handbrake, and a billet Fortin sequential shifter, to name a few. The car also comes with a fire suppression system, a Rugged Radio intercom system, and a GPS.
The car requires further assembly and some mechanical work to be complete, but it seems most of the heavy lifting has been done.
The car is listed as “No reserve” and the current bid is $40,000. The unfinished 037 Tribute will reach the end of auction in just a few days.
