KLA Stock Strength Rating Climbs To Lofty 96; Chip Equipment Giant’s Sales Climb As Chipmakers Try To Keep Up With Soaring Demand

The computer chip shortage is hurting a slew of industries including autos, servers and consumer electronics. The cure is more chipmaking gear from companies like chip equipment giant KLA Tencor (KLAC). On Friday, KLA stock’s Composite Rating rose a couple of clicks to a near-best 96, of 99.

The revised score means KLA stock currently tops 96% of all other stocks in terms of key performance metrics and technical strength. History shows the top market performers tend to have a 95 or higher score as they launch their major moves.

KLA Stock Relative Strength Strong

Among other key ratings, Milpitas, Calif.-based KLA has an EPS Rating of 95. Its 82 Relative Strength Rating is also very good. Top growth stocks tend to have an RS Rating north of 80 before they begin their big moves.

Its C Accumulation/Distribution Rating shows a roughly equal amount of buying and selling by institutional investors over the last 13 weeks.

Regarding fundamentals, in its fiscal Q4 the company posted 62% earnings growth to $4.43 per share. That marks two straight reports with rising EPS growth. Revenue grew 32% to $1.93 billion, up from 27% growth the prior quarter.

KLA Tencor earns the No. 3 rank among its peers in the Electronics-Semiconductor Equipment industry group. Brooks Automation (BRKS) and Nova (NVMI) are also among the top-five ranks stock in the group.
