MUFG promotes Neal Holland to CFO of its Americas operations

The banking giant Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group will promote its deputy chief financial officer in the Americas to the region’s top CFO job as part of a succession plan that gets underway next month.

Neal Holland will succeed Johannes “Johs” Worsoe as the finance chief of MUFG Americas Holding Corp. and its primary banking subsidiary, MUFG Union Bank, the $3.2 trillion-asset company announced Tuesday.

Holland, who has been with the Tokyo-based company since 2008, will be a member of the executive committee for the Americas. He will report to Kevin Cronin, who was named president and CEO of the MUFG Americas Holding Corp. in February.

Neal Holland, who will become CFO of MUFG Americas on June 1, is a 13-year veteran at the company.

In Holland’s new role, he will lead financial management for MUFG Americas and oversee business units that include corporate treasury, corporate finance, financial planning and analysis, procurement, accounting and risk management. He is currently based in Seattle, and will continue to be based on the West Coast, a company spokeswoman said.

Cronin said in a press release that Holland is “a high-impact financial executive” whose 13 years with MUFG Americas will help him to “hit the ground running and provide unique perspectives” as the company “accelerates [its] strategic plan to achieve strong financial results.”

Holland has held several jobs at MUFG Americas, including regional bank CFO, head of financial planning and analysis and head of retail finance and strategy. Last year he was promoted from controller and chief accounting officer to CFO of Union Bank.

From 2004 to 2007, Holland worked at Countrywide Financial, and before that he was an auditor and senior consultant in the global capital markets group at Deloitte & Touche.

Though the transition will take place on June 1, Worsoe will stay through July 15, the company said. Worsoe announced plans in February to leave the company to pursue new opportunities.

MUFG Americas has offices in the United States, Canada, Mexico and five South American countries.
