Tracee Ellis Ross is the latest celebrity to participate in the fall’s latest style trend: oversized jackets and—checks notes—no pants. Despite the traditionally cooler weather, the look has been making the rounds this season to great effect. Hailey Bieber and Beyoncé have both leaned into the trend in the past few weeks, from Bieber’s signature street style to Beyoncé’s elegant evening wear.
And on October 13, black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross wore an oversized black blazer with nothing but a pair of polka dot sheer tights and black high-heeled booties on bottom. She accessorized with golden chandelier earrings and a cat eye for an effortlessly glam look.
She posted the outfit to Instagram with a cheeky caption about her zodiac sign: “Patiently waiting for Scorpio season,” she wrote. “And by Scorpio season I mean my birthday. OCTOBER 29th …mark your calendars. Ok bye.” Leave it to the Scorpio to have a mysterious allure in both her outfit and pose.
Hailey Bieber kicked off the trend with a more cozy street style look, proving that the blazer and no-pants fit can be appropriate for a more day look as well. On September 30, her wedding anniversary, Bieber was spotted in New York sporting a black bucket hat, an oversized blazer, no pants, white ankle socks, and a pair of fuzzy gray Ugg slippers.
Of course, Queen Bey put her own glamorous twist on the trend. On October 8, Beyoncé posted her version of the blazer and no-pants combo: a black and white blazer mini dress paired with glittery heels and an even shinier purse. She topped it off with a pair of shades. It’s just one of many iconic looks she’s worn with Jay-Z on tour for his new film The Harder They Fall, which premieres on Friday, October 22.
Oversized blazers could be an essential addition to your fall wardrobe, from tuxedo jackets to mini dresses like Bey’s. Check out some options below if you’re interested in trying the trend yourself:
