Linklaters appoints 13 partners in London in largest promotions round since financial crisis

Magic Circle law firm Linklaters has promoted 13 lawyers to its partnership in London out of a 35-strong global partner promotions round.

It is the largest promotions round for the Magic Circle firm since 2007 when 38 lawyers made the grade.

In 2020 the firm promoted 30 new partners, including 14 in London and eight women, while in 2019 Linklaters promoted 33 lawyers to partner with 11 in London and 11 women.

Fifteen of the new partners this year are women, above the firm’s target of promoting at least 40% new female partners.

Charlie Jacobs, senior partner and chair of Linklaters, said: “The diversity of talent we see in these promotions, including across practice and jurisdiction, is testament to the strength of our global network and to the firm’s ability to attract, retain and invest in leading individuals.”

Two of the new partners are from the firm’s Shanghai affiliate firm Zhao Sheng.
