Welcome to Giuseppe’s Garage, a limited Popular Mechanics video series, in which ten-year-old autos expert, Giuseppe, will show us some car maintenance basics and provide DIY tips—all from his family’s shop in Pennsylvania. In this episode, “Welding 101,” Giuseppe shows off his welding chops. Want to learn to change your oil or buff out scratches in your new paint job? Stay tuned for more episodes.
A ten-year-old Pennsylvania boy is poised to become the next great gearhead thanks to his passion for cars. A natural-born tinkerer, Giuseppe loves to spend his time working on engines and creating custom body work.
Giuseppe’s love for automotive work is in his blood. “He grew up in the shop—from the time he was born, he was in the shop,” say his parents, Rachel and Luciano, who own Lucky’s Auto Body in Hellertown, Pennsylvania. But if they had to pinpoint the exact moment his spark for this kind of work was ignited, they say it likely began with a small pedal car he played with when he was just two years old.
“He learned through play. Our work was his play, small things like removing bolts and license plates, holding screwdrivers—it all helped develop his fine motor skills and we saw that this was something he really had a passion for,” Rachel tells Pop Mech.

In addition to working on a variety of vehicles, Giuseppe is also versed in welding—a skill that comes in handy when he’s doing body work. But as a jack-of-all trades, Giuseppe has also mastered oil changes and the fine art of buffing out scratches and imperfections in paint.
In between maintaining his YouTube channel, Instagram, and helping out in the shop, Giuseppe is also currently working on building a fully functional, period-correct drag race car with his father. In the future, Giuseppe wants to customize the vehicle with an emphasis on creating something that looks brand-new and completely different from the original model.
For now, though, the kid wonder is happy creating content—such as step-by-step tutorials, tool reviews, and updates on ongoing projects—that showcases his enthusiasm and helps others learn about their own cars. Giuseppe’s mission, after all, is to “shape the next generation of gearheads.”
