Ronald Acuna injury update: Braves confirm star suffered torn right ACL vs. Marlins

Ronald Acuna Jr. suffered a right knee injury in the Braves’ Saturday afternoon game against the Marlins in Miami.

Acuna was tracking a drive to deep right field by the Marlins’ Jazz Chisholm. He leaped but couldn’t make the catch. The ball went just over Acuna’s outstretched glove and hit off the base of the wall.

Acuna came down and crashed into the wall, and then couldn’t get up.

The outfielder tried to leave the field under his own power but couldn’t. He went back down to the turf and was eventually carted to the dugout and carried into the locker room by Atlanta staffers. He was visibly upset.

The injury didn’t look good for the 23-year-old Acuna, and the Braves confirmed that it wasn’t late Saturday night. The team announced that Acuna had suffered a torn right ACL and would miss the rest of the season.

MLB Twitter was rightfully worried about Acuna after the injury. It took time to send him well wishes after his injury.

Acuna entered Saturday with a .284/.392/.593 slash line and 24 home runs. Abraham Almonte replaced him in right field after the injury.
