Actress Jane Powell has died at the age of 92. She was best known for her appearances in musicals such as Royal Wedding and Seven Brides

Jane Powell has died at the age of 92.

It’s been confirmed that the actress best known for appearing in musicals such as Royal Wedding and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers died from natural causes.

Her death was confirmed on Thursday by family friend and spokesperson Susan Granger who said the star passed away at her home in Wilton, Connecticut.

The actress made her name on screen when she danced with Fred Astaire in Royal Wedding in 1951 before being cast as one of seven brides for seven brothers in the classic 1954 film musical of the same name.

She also sang at President Harry S. Truman’s Inaugural Ball and was honoured to be a bridesmaid at the first of Elizabeth Taylor’s weddings.

She was a popular figure in stage performance and starred in hit road productions of musicals including The Sound of Music, Oklahoma!, My Fair Lady and Carousel.

She also performed once more with Seven Brides co-star Howard Keel as they starred in South Pacific and I Do! I Do!

Jane was one of the last surviving stars of Hollywood’s Golden Age and had continued to appear on stage well into the 21st Century.

The powerful singer was married five times. Her first husband was Geary Steffen, the ice-skating partner of Norwegian Olympic champion Sonja Henie, while he last was was former child star Dickie Moore, who died in 2015.









She is survived by her three children, Geary Anthony Steffen III, Suzanne Steffen and Lindsay Cavalli and her two granddaughters, Skye Cavalli and Tia Cavalli.
