Chris Eubank Jr has weighed in ahead of his latest middleweight test and is ready to show he is a “barbarian”.

The British middleweight makes his first appearance since May in his first outing under the new partnership between Sky Sports and BOXXER.

And he was set to face Sven Elbir before he was forced to withdraw after testing positive for coronavirus.

But now he faces late replacement Anatoli Muratov, and has weighed in at at 163lbs ahead of his middleweight return.

The 32-year-old is in great shape and has promised to show his new “barbarian” qualities he has worked on with Roy Jones Jr.

“Being an absolute barbarian,” Eubank Jr replied when asked what his new trainer has instilled in him. “I’m going for the knockout, as always.

“I’m going in there to make a statement by taking this guy out in devastating fashion. Once the bell goes I’m in my element.

“I’ve watched this guy, studied him, I know how to beat him. I know his weaknesses and his strengths.”

Eubank Jr is ready to take on the task at hand, but is looking ahead to relaunching his assault on the division at world level.

And he has faced a fair share of issues with a coronavirus battle of his own, in addition to personal issues after the death of his brother Sebastien Eubank.

But the illustrious middleweight is ready as ever to demonstrate his skills, and is confident of recording a stoppage despite having no “gameplan”.

“I have probably seen about five minutes of my opponent because of the late change,” Eubank Jr said at the press conference. “But I will watch some more of him and get through him again.

“But I have never been knocked out at middleweight, so this guy is going to have a rough night. I have never looked past any opponent, it is a process at this level.

“I don’t even actually have a game plan to take on this opponent right now because I don’t really know much about him.

“The chin does not move for anybody, I have even sparred heavyweights and never been knocked out, so as I say this guy is going to have a rough night.”

Eubank Jr has also renewed his rivalry with Billy Joe Saunders in the build-up after his previous defeat in 2014.

The latter admitted he could retire, but would need an offer of £5 million for the rematch to happen.

And Eubank Jr has responded, confirming his intentions to eventually rematch the foe he labelled as a “rat”.

He also has named Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez as potential opponents, when he could pursue a move up to super-middleweight.

”We are looking for them big fights that the public want to see, obviously Golovkin has been on my radar for years now and we are just waiting to see if he is fighting or not,” he said at the Wasserman media day. “I don’t see how that fight can’t happen over the next 12 months, there is no way that fight can’t happen.

“I have now been made mandatory for that WBA super title, so hopefully I can potentially receive an offer to get a shot at that.

“You have Liam Williams domestically who has always called my name, Canelo Alvarez at 168 pounds that I would certainly move up to take that fight.”
