Dawn French debuted her brand new hair style on social media. The Vicar of Dibley star was inundated with compliments on her new do
Dawn French has ditched her trademark brown bob for a brand new hairstyle.
The Vicar of Dibley star took to social media on Tuesday to debut her new do.
Posting to her Instagram account, the 63-year-old shared a snap of her locks as she transitions from her iconic style to a fresh look.
“Cutting off all the old colour…gradually getting there with the grey…” Dawn began in her caption to her 215,000 followers.
In the snap, the award-winning comedian’s usual brown bob is nowhere to be seen – as the star showed off a drastic cut that frees her of her previously dyed hair.
In the caption, the mum-of-one then goes on to reveal the ultimate goal for her new hairstyle.
“Starting short… aiming at the ol bob in full grey glory…. It’s a process… I’m not great at patience…” she continued.
Friends and fans were quick to compliment the star on her bold new image.
“Love it. I’m next,” actress Andi Osho quipped underneath Dawn’s latest social media post.
“It’s great. I embraced my lovely silver hair during the pandemic. Best thing I ever did,” one fan commented.
A third added: “You’re going to look great! I truly believe it!”
Earlier this year, Dawn informed her online fans that she was embracing her grey hair going forward.
While showing off a funky new undercut on Instagram, the French and Saunders star revealed she was getting ready to “welcome the grey” as she grows older.
“Going lighter bit by bit to happily welcome the grey… with an undercut surprise..!” Dawn told her followers in June.
“Hello there woman in her 60s….” the star added.
Dawn has always been excited by the prospect of growing older, dubbing her current age the ‘Autumn’ of her life.
Speaking with Fearne Cotton last year, the 63-year-old opened up about how she has found peace after relocating to Cornwall.
“I find the clutter of it overwhelming. I think I’m not meant for a city… that isn’t the real me. The real me is quiet,” Dawn told the podcast host when looking back on her old life in London.
The star then went on to discuss how settled she is now she lives by the coast.
“There is, without a doubt, the beauty here. I can do nothing but connect with that. It makes me calm, it makes me happier and it sort of enthuses my mind with better ways of thinking,” she confessed on the Happy Place podcast.
“I find quiet there. I have been noisy all my life and loved it but essentially I am a quiet person,” she added.
“I’ve gone back to where my family are. The sense of my mum is there and that is home for me.”
Although she was born in Wales, Dawn spent the majority of her childhood living in Cornwall.
