EuroMillions winner who scooped £41m jackpot wins restraining order against ex-lover in High Court legal fight after she wrote kiss-and-tell book

  • Gareth Bull has won a High Court order against ex-lover Donna Desporte
  • The pair met while he was on holiday in Tenerife, before embarking on affair
  • She subsequently wrote a tell-all book about their nine-month relationship
  • Mr Bull, who was married, scooped £41million on the Euromillions in 2012

A lottery winner who scooped a £41million jackpot has taken out a restraining order against his ex-lover who had written a tell-all book.

Gareth Bull, 50, was still married to his wife Catherine when he met Tenerife bar owner Donna Desporte in 2016 – four years after winning the EuroMillions.

Mr Bull had been on holiday on the Spanish island and began a nine-month relationship with Miss Desporte, who then penned the memoir Google Me, No Lies, after their fling came to an end.

The book, whose title was a reference to the alleged conversation that played out between them when they first met, had been the subject of previous court hearings, The Mirror reports.

Mr Bull has now been granted an extended civil restraint order banning Miss Desporte, now 52, from bringing court actions against him following a High Court battle.

It was claimed Mr Bull spent thousands taking his mistress to star-studded events, but his wife reportedly discovering their illicit relationship after seeing them in the background of a televised Anthony Joshua boxing match in 2017.

He and his wife separated fully that year.

In the latest ruling, Mr Justice Julian Knowles concluded that litigation between the pair had become so ‘convoluted’ that even legal representatives struggled to keep track of every application or challenge made, The Mirror reports.

He said: ‘Donna Desporte has persistently made without merit applications in a number of actions over an extended period.

‘They have been certified as totally without merit at every level from the Master up to the Court of Appeal.

‘These totally meritless applications have occupied a large amount of court time and resources, as well as Gareth Bull’s resources, over a number of years.’

The permanent injunction restrains publication of 36 passages from the book and four photographs taken by Mr Bull ‘privately during their relationship’.

Ms Desporte argued that she had a right to give her side of the story and refute allegations she was a ‘whore and a gold digger’, but the judge ruled there was no legal public interest in her writing about their sexual relationship.
