GMB fans slam Adil Ray’s ‘disgusting personal questions’ during Rishi Sunak chat

Good Morning Britain hosts Adil Ray and Charlotte Hawkins invited Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak onto the ITV show to discuss the 2021 Budget announcement

Good Morning Britain host Adil Ray clashed with Rishi Sunak on Thursday’s show as they discussed the outcome of the latest Budget announcement.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer appeared on the ITV breakfast show live from Bury as he defended his economic decisions, which were announced on Wednesday.

During the interview, Adil made several references to Rishi’s personal fortune and described him as “a very wealthy man” as he asked the MP if he thinks he can relate to those struggling financially.

However, many GMB viewers were not impressed with Adil’s choice of questions and took to Twitter to comment.

“Disgusting line of personal questioning of the Chancellor by Ray there, trying to turn himself in to a Poundshop Piers. #GMB,” one person posted.

Another tweeted: “What gives Adil the right to be so rude to Rishi ? It’s not big and it’s not clever. Fool. #gmb.”

Someone else posted: “Well done Rishi – stood up to lazy journalism from Adil Ray , came over very well and showed why we should have faith in his budget. #GMB.”

And a fourth added: “Adil is an awful presenter, shouting over guests with aggressive questions, he’s no Piers! You can tell he has no journalistic training, aren’t they supposed to be completely impartial & unbiased? What’s with bringing up personal finances with Rishi Sunak? Get him off… #gmb.”

But other viewers felt there was no point in having the Tory MP on the show, and tweeted: “Absolute waste of time having any politicians on for interviews. You never get a straight answer. I’m pretty sure they hear a whole different question altogether! #GMB #Budget.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
