Evanna Lynch and Robbie Jarvis met on the set of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and unbeknownst to die-hard fans, they began dating in 2007, but only went public with their romance in 2015
The Irish star shot to fame playing the loveable Luna Lovegood in the 2007 blockbuster Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix, alongside Daniel Radcliffe as the boy wizard, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.
Evanna met Robbie Jarvis on the set of the fifth film, when he played a younger version of Harry’s father, James Potter, during a flashback scene which shows him laughing as he disarmed a teenage Severus Snape with a spell.
“Happy 29th Birthday to this little babe!! Sweetest boy! Off to see a show together #happybirthdayrobbie,” Evanna captioned a picture of her boyfriend on social media in May 2015.
While Robbie only had a brief part in the wizarding movie saga, Evanna reprised her role as the eccentric Ravenclaw student for three more films – Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and both of the Deathly Hallows movies.
Just weeks before they split in 2016, Robbie shared a lengthy post on Instagram, in which he discussed how Evanna had persuaded him to ditch his meat-eating diet to become vegan.
Sharing a throwback picture of the couple in New Zealand, the actor recalled an incident after they had visited Hobbiton, where the Lord of the Rings films were shot.
He said after being surrounded by sheep at the tourist attraction, Evanna was crestfallen to discover he was going to order a lamb burger from a farm cafe, and she began educating him on the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle.
“That holiday was the last time I ate meat and I pity the boy in this photo who had more in common with those sheep than he realised. I’m happy to say that I’m now much closer to knowing the true cost of my food,” he wrote.
They called time on their relationship in late 2016, and just a few weeks later, Evanna confirmed she and Robbie were no more, but insisted they remained close friends.
“We’re both vegans, so we go to a lot of vegan events together. So yeah, we’re good friends,” she told Us Weekly at the premiere of the Harry Potter spin-off movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
The former couple still regularly share pictures of each other on social media, and last year, Robbie wished his ex a happy birthday by posting a snap of her on a boat in a river.
“Happiest of birthdays to someone who is always delighted to see ducklings!” he sweetly captioned the photo.
