The Love Island 2021 cast reunited with host Laura Whitmore for a reunion show that did not include Liberty Poole’s ex-boyfriend Jake Cornish
Jake Cornish has not appeared on the Love Island reunion show.
ITV2 aired Love Island : The Reunion on Sunday night (September 5), with Laura Whitmore back on hosting duties and flanked by “Mr Whitmore” himself, Iain Stirling, on voiceover duties.
However, one of the 2021 series’ bigger characters was not present with the rest of the cast.
Jake Cornish failed to put in an appearance on the show as Laura Whitmore announced he would be absent from the show in its opening minutes.
Laura revealed: “So, sadly Jake can’t be with us this evening as he isn’t feeling very well.”
She added: “But get well soon and sending you lots of love.”
Jake previously walked out of the villa days before the final after girlfriend Liberty Poole ended their relationship, prompting them to depart together.
Naturally, viewers on social media were shocked not to see one of the biggest characters of the recent series in the big reunion episode.
A different Love Island viewer penned: “Well Jake dodged a bullet there. Given everything that happened it was a good call, but unfortunately less dramz for us. #LoveIsland ”.
Meanwhile, one concerned viewer commented: “Kinda glad Jake didn’t come bc he probably doesn’t wanna have to relive it all. Might even be struggling so i think ppl should leave him alone . Hope he’s alright tho #LoveIsland ”.
Elsewhere, another Love Island fan noted: “Not Jake being sick get well soon #LoveIsland ”.
Finally, one viewer of the reunion show concluded: “Wait I wanted Jake to be there so they could question him on shit ( #LoveIsland ”.
