Chelsea won four of their six matches in all competitions during the month of September, with a number of Thomas Tuchel’s side playing a starring role
Chelsea’s month may have ended on a sour note, but on the whole September was a positive period for Thomas Tuchel and his trophy chasing squad.
Back-to-back 3-0 wins over Aston Villa and Tottenham saw them keep pace with the early season pacemakers, while their victory against Zenit ensured their Champions League campaign get off to a winning start.
But there have still been some stand-out performers for the Blues as they continue to battle on all fronts.
Romelu Lukaku found the net against Villa and Zenit to kick-off the month and although the goals have dried up since, his presence continues to draw the attention of opposition defenders.
Defenders Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen have also impressed at the back, with Chelsea registering three shutouts in the past month.
Edouard Mendy was at his brilliant best to deny Villa at Stamford Bridge, making a string of impressive stops, with midfielder Mateo Kovacic rounding off the nominees.
Kovacic scored one and created another during the win against Villa and also registered another assist during the derby win against Spurs.
