EastEnders’ Mick Carter was forced to take drastic action against Rainie Cross on Monday night, as her games left him and his family threatened.
While Rainie doesn’t know for sure, she is convinced Linda’s newborn baby Annie is Max Branning’s child – not her husband Mick’s.
This is the case of course, but Mick and Linda have claimed the child is his, wanting to raise the child together.
Now, Rainie’s actions could bring Max back to Walford with big consequences for all those involved.
Linda fell pregnant after a brief romance with Max last last year, before she reunited with husband Mick.
Max has since left Walford and is currently on the run, after kidnapping his young granddaughter Abi – who was being raised by her great-aunt Rainie.
Rainie has been distraught and is desperate to get her little one home – wanting to lure Max back to Walford.
She now believes she knows how to bring him back, and Abi with him, not caring about the possible consequences on the Carters.
Despite Mick and Linda disputing claims that Max is the baby’s father, Rainie is trying to get the news back to Max in the hope he will return for his child.
She went to extreme lengths on Monday, sticking posters around Walford claiming Linda’s baby is Max’s and not Mick’s.
Rainie put two and two together after believing Linda was further along in her pregnancy than she had claimed, and she has been unable to drop it even after the birth of Annie.
As Mick confronted her about the posters on Monday, he threatened her to stay away.
Rainie laughed in his face, suggesting there was no reason not to bring Max back – declaring she would be making sure Max learned the truth.
She said: “Max will hear about the baby, he will come back and there is nothing you can do about it.”
Mick took action himself and went straight to the Taylors, with teen Bernadette Taylor currently being a surrogate for Rainie and husband Stuart’s baby.
He told the family that he had just seen Rainie and she was back on drugs, and that they shouldn’t let the baby anywhere near her.
But will it stop Bernie going through with it, and will Rainie change her mind about Max?
More than that, will word reach Max and bring the character back to Walford very soon?
EastEnders’ Executive Producer Jon Sen r ecently teased the big plot and whether the Carters could get away with their secret.

Speaking about the scenes ahead, he told The Mirror: “Of course let’s not forget Linda and Mick.
“Linda is pregnant with Max’s baby. They are desperate to hide that from everyone on the Square, but Rainie is severely intent on finding out the truth.
“Will the Carters convince everyone that Mick is the father in time, or will Rainie get to the truth?”
EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
