Piers Morgan says he’s still suffering the “irritating” effects of long Covid after testing positive for the virus 10 weeks ago.

The controversial broadcaster, who claims he caught the virus during the Euro 2020 final, took to Twitter asking his followers whether it was possible to ever fully recover.

“Has anyone had long covid symptoms of fatigue & loss of taste/smell for 10 weeks or more and then fully recovered – if so, what did you do that helped get over it? It’s getting very irritating..”, he wrote.

In a positive response one fan replied: “I did… Jan caught covid, was off my feet Feb and March but just slowly got out and about, fresh air and pushed a bit more each day.

“I’m running the @LondonMarathon week on Sunday so something worked!”

The post seemed to cheer the former GMB host, who replied saying: “Very encouraging – thanks.”

However, another fan wasn’t quite so optimistic who tweeted he still hadn’t recovered after catching the virus last October.

Piers claimed he caught Covid at the Euro 2020 final at Wembley Stadium in July despite being double-jabbed.

The TV host, 56, believes he caught the virus after crowds of ticketless fans swarmed the venue.

Piers had had both doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, but began to have symptoms two days after the game, which included a raging fever, chills and violent coughing and sneezing fits.

He said he believes he caught the Delta coronavirus variant at the sellout final.

After he began experiencing symptoms, Piers took a lateral flow test that came back positive and a PCR test confirmed the result.

He said it was the “roughest I’ve felt” from an illness in his adult life.

Despite recovering from the severity of symptoms Piers revealed the virus had left him with an unusually deep voice.

He told the Mail on Sunday: “My voice now sounds like Barry White, though I couldn’t feel less like a Walrus of Love.”

Piers reasoned: “This is definitely the roughest I’ve felt from any illness in my adult life, BUT, as I slowly come out the other side, coughing and spluttering.”

“I’m still here – unlike so many millions around the world who’ve lost their lives to Covid in this pandemic.

The seasoned broadcaster has bagged himself a new new job after quitting GMB in March, storming off the set live on-air after a heated row over Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Piers’ new show is part of a global deal and will air on talkTV in the UK, USA and Australia.

After appearing at The Sun’s Who Cares Wins Awards on Tuesday, the host teased an exciting new project, and said he was on the lookout for a replacement for his former GMB co-host Susanna Reid.

“Have patience, it won’t be long. It’s a lot bigger than GMB,” he told The Sun. “It’s not fighting talk, it’s just a lot bigger. You’ll see soon.”

“You never know, I might be auditioning for new wives…” he quipped.
