Detectives are investigating the discovery of a “decomposed” body in a remote field.

Officers have closed off a rural field in South London after a body was found by walkers on Sunday afternoon (September 26).

Police were called shortly before 4.30pm on Sunday after members of the public made the grim discovery, MyLondon reports.

Enquiries into the death, which is being treated as unexplained, are ongoing with officers working to identify the person.

It is understood the body was found by walkers on Sunday afternoon in the corner of a field on the side of a hill close to Biggin Hill airport.

Unconfirmed reports on social media said the group who found the badly decomposed remains were believed the body was a male and that it had been in the field for ‘months’.
